The Butler Chain of lakes also known as the Windermere Chain is Orlando’s premier lake chain made up of twelve interconnected pristine lakes that cover an area of 4720 acres. The lakes are typically clear with sandy bottoms. The Chain of Lakes was formed basically as a result of sinkholes that were formed by eroding Limestone known as Karst Rainwater is the main source of water which is a huge 4,720 acres and some spots as deep as 40 feet. The lakes have been designated by the Department of Environmental Regulation of the State of Florida as "Outstanding Florida Waters" due to their excellent water quality and wildlife habitat.
It is a nice place to sightsee or relax on “Bird Island”.
Many celebrities call the Butler Chain of Lakes their home. Such people include the likes of Shaquille O'Neal, Ken Griffey Jr., and Tiger Woods, just to name a few.
Being on the Chain for the day is worth the trip. |
